Built to Brew: the Architecture and Urban History of the Dublin Brewery, a talk by Dr Livia Hurley, 1.25pm-2pm.
This talk by Dr Livia Hurley charts the rise of porter and how its production influenced the world of the brewery and its immediate context in the city, from the Liberties to the Royal Canal.
It explores the collaborative roles of the brewer, the architect and engineer, and how their ambitions for innovation and modernity produced some of the most dynamic spaces in Dublin in the nineteenth century. Â
There will be very limited public access to the IAA reading room and exhibition spaces on Tuesday 12 May, Wednesday 13 May and Friday 15 May 2026. There will be NO public access on Thursday 14 May 2026.
