Aimed at 5th and 6th class student, the primary schools workshops in the IAA are devised and delivered by artist Marian Balfe using a student-centred Visual Thinking Strategies approach. Children spend time engaging directly with the building and collections. Through discussions on topics ranging from building materials to architectural drawings, and a subsequent period of making, they learn to observe their built environment, develop an understanding of architectural processes and materials, and advance their visual literacy.
